If you have ever been to or through the Texas Hill Country, you have surely heard of the city of Fredericksburg . Well, this city is not exactly Fredericksburg , but it’s so close and is so much like it, most tourists often come visit both of these small cities at the same time. Kerrville, Texas is truly a Texas Hill Country paradise. The people who live in the town treat you as one of the family and restaurants seem like your mothers kitchen. Driving through Kerrville, you are able to see the spring fed creeks that make their way through the rugged terrain and the hills of the Guadalupe River Valley . The Guadalupe River , along with Kerrville ’s mild climate, which never seems to be too hot or too cold, provides the tourists and its residents with many outdoor pursuits.

 

 

In every season of the year, you can count on Kerrville to offer a variety of activities. The city itself, was first settled when shingle makers where drawn to it by the towering Cypress trees of the area that run along the Guadalupe River . Altho

ugh the shingle makers may be gone, the visitors still seem to be drawn to Kerrville . Tourists are attracted to the abundant amount of wild life, wildflowers, rare birds and an event filled calendar that make Kerrville a popular destination. Stated on the Kerrville website, “Come lose your heart to the hills”, and rightly so, many tourists to this city have to admit that they are blown away by the beauty and atmosphere that the city has to offer. Even though Kerrville may be a small town, they also know how to have a good time, providing live music and dancing as well as outdoor rodeos and dances during the summer.

 

 

There is also an outdoor theatre that is situated along the Guadalupe River . Some of the more notable events that occur in Kerrville throughout the year include; the Easter Festival and Cook-off, the Easter Bike Tour, Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, The Senior Games, a wine and music festival, mountain bike races, and many other events that are sure to be of interest to all family members. The next time you are driving through the Texas Hill Country, or decide to spend a few days here, make sure that Kerrville is one of your stops along the way. With its many events during the year, you might just find yourself in the middle of one!
