When most people think of Napa Valley they immediately think wine country. While Napa Valley does boast one of the most impressive regions geared toward the wine connoisseur they also offer hidden treasures of life that are quiet little goodies, nestled in the quiet country side.
The spas are endless, the restaurants delicious and the sights to see are breathtaking. The wineries are in abundance also, so if you are looking to do some wine tasting, this is the spot.
A few times a year the girlfriends and I just like to get away. We call it the sister’s weekend of no disturbances. We load up the car and head to Napa Valley to indulge ourselves in weekend spas, food and relaxation.
Our favorite place to stay is the Sonoma Mission Inn. We indulge in the Girls Getaway Package that includes hotel stay, breakfast and spa treatments. We deserve it. Relaxing massages and facials, followed by a delicious dinner and then we are off for cocktails.
Sonoma Mission Inn is our favorite because it offers all of our favorites under one roof. We are able to enjoy our spa treatments at our leisure while alternating visits to the outdoor pool and the fabulous mineral hot springs.
Napa Valley is a great getaway. When we are able to get away from the kids, we go wild. It is fun to let loose sometimes. After a day of facials, massages and wraps we love to treat ourselves more to an excellent dinner and a night of drinks and laughs.
Another exciting way to end the weekend is with a hot air balloon ride. If you can stand the heights then this is the perfect way to relax while getting a birds-eye view of the valley. The hot air balloon enthusiasts will enjoy spectacular views of vineyards and rolling hills.
So pack your bags and head off for a weekend or weeklong trip of relaxation and enjoyment. One of the biggest benefits to staying at the Sonoma Mission Inn is the ability to just lay back, relax and enjoy life.
Whether you decide to take off with the girls or the hubby, you are sure to find plenty of indulgences to take you away. The restaurants are bountiful as they are romantic, the wine tasting is splendid and off course the quiet countryside works to make all at peace. Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe, nestled in the Sierra Nevada’s, is the perfect place to travel to anytime of year. If you are looking for a winter vacation, the skiing at Tahoe is superb and plentiful. If you are like me and enjoy spending the cold, snowy days indoors, the gambling is also in abundance. The summer boasts a magnificent display of forest and camping. Those enjoying the Tahoe summer will also enjoy the many activities that surround they actual lake that is what gives Lake Tahoe its name.
In addition to the gambling and skiing in Lake Tahoe, I like to the nightlife and restaurants that occupy much on the Tahoe “Strip.” A few years ago we took a trip to Tahoe to celebrate a bridal shower for my sister. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner that was reasonably priced at the Hard Rock Café and then spent the remainder of the night dancing away in one of the many nightclubs that caters to women. There were no cover charges for ladies and we took full advantage of this.
