Nashville, Tennessee

North America » United States
Author: Jan

Nashville, Tennessee is one of those places that will give you a feeling of being back home even in a new city .  A place where the doors always open and everybody is ready to greet you with a smile.  From the beautiful scenery to the wonderful Grand Ole Opry House, this trip will certainly give you memories that you can cherish for a lifetime.

Any country music star will tell you that it is their dream to one day perform at the Grand Ole Opry House, and its no surprise as to why.  Country artists like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton have all performed in this spectacular theatre that can seat 4,400 people at once.  Visiting the Grand Ole Opry House is the world’s longest airing radio show out there.  It has been around since 1925 and has had many famous country and bluegrass artists perform here.  No Nashville trip would be complete without visiting the Grand Ole Opry House.

Interested in traveling the waterways around and through Tennessee ?  Well look no further than the General Jackson Showboat.  This massive 300 foot long showboat is not like your everyday motor driven boat.  This boat was designed to replicate the very first showboat that cruised the Cumberland River in 1817, complete with a giant paddle wheel, which powers the boat through the water.  You can enjoy an evening of fine dining, or take a trip later in the day and dance under the moonlit sky, either way you will certainly appreciate the fine craftsmanship of this elegant boat.

Everyone loves to see a famous person in which they admire.  Well, at the Music Valley Was Museum, you can see most of your favorite country music stars replicated in wax.  Now it does not include all of the country music singers but it does feature quite a few.  It gives you a chance to have your picture taken with Hank Williams or Chet Atkins, and who doesn’t want that in their vacation photo album.  This is something that can really be appreciated by the whole family.

Did you know that at once point, Tennessee was known as the “ Athens of the West”?  Well, we wont tell you why it was once called that, but we can tell you that the Nashville Parthenon is simply amazing.  As you know much of the Parthenon in has been in ruins for quite some time now, and most of the statues are completely destroyed.  Well, this is the only place that you will see a 41-foot tall statue honoring the Greek Goddess Athena.  Now this probably isn’t an exact replica, but this is a very good representation of what she would have looked like, based on the descriptions of her beauty and the statue.  This is a must stop for any history buff.

Nashville is rich with history and an exciting atmosphere for people of any age.  If you’re looking for a family vacation or just a nice getaway for yourself, this is really a place that will bring you back to a much simpler time.  Nashville is a very laid back town that will give you a good change of pace especially if you are just too stressed out from that hustle and bustle life that a big city life brings you ever day.
