The official motto for the travel Romania tourism board is Simply Surprising and many first time visitors are compelled to agree when they first step foot in this enchanting country. Located on the borders of Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and the Ukraine; Romania is a breathtakingly beautiful country centered by the Carpathian Mountains and dotted with hills, plateaus and rich forests. The Danube and the Black Sea add to the arresting beauty of this age old nation. For quite some time, Romania remained fairly isolated from the Western world; viewed by most Westerners as suppressed by a Communist rule. For the last several years most travel Romania has been linked with increasing number of adoptions that occur within this complex country each year.


While Romania ranks at the top of European countries to be considered by adoptive parents, there is much more to this country than its status as a leader in overseas adoptions. If you are considering travel to Romania for any reason; whether it’s personal, business or pleasure, there are a few tips you should keep in mind to help ensure a more pleasant trip.

The climate in Romania is classified as temperate-continental; which means that this country tends to have very distinct seasons with summers that are quite hot and very cold winters. Keep in mind the time of year when you will be planning your travel Romania, in order to pack appropriate clothing. Regardless of the time of year; one essential item to bring along is a rai

ncoat. The official language of Romania is Romanian; classified as a Romance language. English, German and French are also widely spoken throughout the country. By far, the largest city in Romania is Bucharest; followed by Brasov and several other smaller cities.

Most abroad travel Romania occurs by air; with both regular and charter flights connecting to major cities in Romania. International airports are located in Bucharest, Baneasa, Constanta, Otopeni, Mihail Kogalniceanu and Timisoara. Travel Romania is also available via rail and road as well as by sea.

Prior to finalizing your travel Romania, it is extremely important that you make sure you have taken care of all matters related to arranging your Visa. All visitors to Romania are required to obtain a Visa from a Romanian Embassy. Be aware that it may taken anywhere between a few days and an entire month to gain your Visa.

It’s also a good idea to make sure that you understand the national currency of Romania; which is the Leu. This currency is available in both coins and denominations. Coins are available in denominations of 100, 500 and 1000. Paper currency is available in 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 50,000; 100,000; 500,000. The exchange rate does tend to vary. Most major credit cards are accepted throughout the country.

You should also be aware prior to your travel Romania that you must declare any foreign currency over $1000 per person. You also may not bring in any Romanian currency upon entrance; so wait until you arrive to exchange currency at a bank or authorized exchange office.
