Getting there
We went to Yaxchilan coming from Tikal, Guatemala towards Bethel, and then the ferry to Corozal. See "El Peten" chapter for info.
It's nowadays also easy to arrange this as a side trip from Palenque. You can either do it organised or on your own: The organised tours cost 395 Pesos (12/99) and include transportation Palenque-Corozal, then the boat to Yaxchilan and back to Corozal, and then the bus again to Bonampak, and return to Palenque (1 day trip). You can also do a 2 day trip where you spend 1 night at a village of Lacandon Indians. Price is 700 Pesos (12/99).
You can pretty easily do this yourself. Take a collectivo to Corozal 45 Pesos. In Corozal you'll need to arrange a boat to Yaxchilan, and that's not really cheap. We bargained till 500 Pesos (normal price 650 Pesos), but it becomes cheaper if you can join another group. Also getting to Bonampak is not that easy since the site is about 7 km from the main road. From Corozal you can hire a taxi for 250 Pesos to Bonampak, a cheaper option might be to take a collectivo till the junction for Bonampak, and there hope for a taxi. BTW, admittance for the taxi is 50 Pesos.
Hotel
The hotel in Corozal was surprisingly good. They have several cabanas between 150 and 250 Pesos for a double. They have hot water, but it runs out fast. Their restaurant is not bad, and they'll change money if you come from Guatemala.
Yaxchila
n
We loved every minute of our visit to Yaxchilan. It's a wonderfully quiet place set in the jungle, good for hiking in the jungle, and you'll probably see some howler monkeys as well.
Try to go before 2 pm, otherwise the sun becomes to low and the main plaza will be in shadow.
Getting away to Palenque
When we were there, there were repairs on one of the bridges towards Corozal, so access was restricted (cars could only pass between 11 and 12 am and some other hours).
There are 3 direct buses between Corozal and Palenque: 4 am, 11 am and 3 pm (12/99), but this will probably change once the bridge is finished). If you get stuck between 2 buses, you could better take a taxi to "El Crucero" for 10 Pesos pp, there you wait till one of the more frequent collectivos coming from Benemerito arrives.
Getting away to Flores/Tikal
A ferry to Bethel costs 225 Pesos (official price 12/99).
Go to Palenque
Go to El Peten
Go to San Cristobal

To whom this may concern,
How much do the tickets cost to see the yaxchilan ruins? I know they are sold at Escudo Jaguar, but how much do they cost? And how much is the bus ride to the yaxchilan ruins? I would appreciate any inoformation that you may have.
With Respect,
