Thailand - The South

The South of Thailand is completely different from the North. You will see that accomodation will be more expensive, and a lot of the middle class hotels will have package tourists spending a week or two on the beach.

Thailand - The South (Phang-Nga)
Asia

Phang Nga is actually a long raod (3 km) with busstation, post office, hotels and banks along it.
Best thing to do is to stop at the busstation. As we were in a private van, we made the mistake stopping at a hotel, thus missing the offices of the 2 main tour agents in town, Sayan Tours and Mr. Kean tours.

Thailand - The South (Ko Phi Phi)
Asia

Ko PP is a really great island with a relaxed atmosphere: no cars, coconut trees, great beaches, etc... Of course, this also means everybody wants to go there so there are a lot of hotels and tourists. I don't think it'll get better once Leonardo Di Caprio's new film "The Beach" will be released, since it was filmed at Maya Beach (PP Leh). How to get there That's easy, only by boat. There are different boats going to PP From Krabi at 10.00 and 14.30, price 150 Bht From Ao Nang and Rai Leh (same boat): 9.00 and 9.30, price 250 Bht From Phuket 8 am and 13.30, price 250 Bht.

Ko Samui, Thailand

A very useful site for any Samui traveller is the Sawadee site. It's not a travel agent, but it's an internet company where every hotel on the island can have its own site. So you'll find a listing of hotels, all kind of practical info and even a live webcam.

Hua Hin, Thailand
Asia

Hua Hin is a pretty touristic by now. It's not so easy to find a Thai restaurant, but Swedish, German or Italian menus are no problem. The rooms of hotels are also quite expensive, especially in high season.
