Kayseri-Sivas-Divrigi

There are regular buses from Kayseri to Sivas, the trip takes a bit less then 3 hours.

In Sivas you will have to wait a bit for the connection to Divrigi, as buses are not so frequent (Divrigi is at the end of a dead end road). The trip is only 170 km, but it still took almost 4 hours. At the time (1986), the last 70 km where a dirt track.

Accommodation

It's easy to choose here, since there are only 2 hotels in town:

The Ninny hotel is the best of the 2, but still very basic.

On the other side of the road, there is the Diger Hotel.

What to do

The only rea
son to come here is the Ulu Camii, a beautifully preserved temple complex dating from the 13th century. It's definitely worth coming here, although it's quite rough to get to.

Going further east

One option to go further east is taking the train. The train station is a 20 minutes walk east of town, there are taxis. There were only 2 trains a day, one between 4.30 and 5.30 and one between 10 and 10.30. However, you can never be sure of this. I met 2 Americans who just got stuck because there was no train the day before. Even if it comes, it'll be probably 1 hour late.

But there are also frequent buses going east.

The trip to Erzincan by train took 3 hours. I don't remember much of the scenery anymore since I spent most of my time on the toilet.
