The Suq at-Talh is recommended on fridays, saturdays ands sundays. It's famous for the gus smuggled from Saoudi Arabia, but they also have fruits, meat, vegetables etc...
There's a fortress near Sa'da, the As-Sinnara. Take a taxi and come back by foot, although children can get aggressive if you don't give a present.

ShiharaThis is one of the most famous villages of Yemen, and the people living there know it. You need to days to get there and go back, and it's preferable to spend the night there.
You need to get to the foot of the mountain, from huth it's 45 km. There, all transport stops and you need to hire an expensive jeep at 4000 to 6000 YR for the group. Don't expect you can join others, the drivers won't allow you. The trip is only 10 km but takes 2 hours. you could also go by foot (5 to 7 hours, you'll have to climb 1400 m), but one report said the bedouins can get very aggressive if you attempt this (12/97).
Walk around in the village and don't miss the bridge, it's spectacular.
There's a
funduq charging 3000 YR for a double including breakfast, it's not so bad as you might expect.
