Phobjika
- This was another highlight of our trip, although I must admit we were extremely lucky with the weather. When we arrived around 4 hours, the sun was marvelous, putting the valley with the grazing yaks in a beautiful light.
- We stayed at a primitive but very cozy guesthouse. It was freezingly cold (in fact it snowed that night), so we all sat around the stove and had dinner. The food was vegetarian and excellen
t.
- We woke up at 6 am to go and see the cranes, and it was really worth it. I still don't understand why the other tourists didn't do that. The valley was completely white from the snow, and although it was 14th of March, we still saw plenty of cranes. We saw about 10 of them pretty close, and flocks of them through the telescope from the observation center.
- By 8 o'clock, all the snow had melted. I think it is essential to spend the night there, a unique though pretty cold experience.
- The road into the valley is 12 km, but it takes 45 minutes as it is in a bad condition.
